Frustrated with his fledgling career, actor Jim Carrey wrote a check to himself for $10 million and post-dated it for Thanksgiving Day five years later. He placed the check in his wallet and looked it every day. Four years later, and just three days before his father died, Jim signed a milestone contract for that exact amount.
